It is so cold outside and so clear. It's 42 degrees. In Alabama, that's just not right. So my bright idea was to take pictures of the lake, fog and stars. And the mystery animal huffing and puffing at me while my camera was exposing itself to the night sky for thirty seconds at a time.
It was well worth the "suspense" though. This is the view from my backyard right now. While I might enjoy it more away from the mystery animal huffing and puffing at me, I thought I'd share it with you.
I tried to flash the camera at the location where the animal was (which was just below the bushes in the lower portion of the image) and couldn't see anything, not even glowing eyes, when I looked on the computer. I guess I'll never know who my special new friend is. Maybe I don't want to know!

Wow. What a great shot. It's so clear. No pollution at yours. Well done

@standley: Thanks. It was so clear last night! It may have been freezing but I couldn't help but want to take photos. About an hour after I stopped, the fog had gotten so thick and tall on the water that it looked ghostly! It was beautiful!!
Wow, this is truly night-time in all its quiet splendour. You have captured it beautifully. I could gaze and gaze at this sky for ages!! ….somehow, am really glad for you that the mystery animal remained a mystery :)

@Rebecca: Thanks Rebecca! That's pretty much what I was doing - just gazing in awe at how beautiful the view was. Then I thought - camera moment. Then I heard my "new friend" and couldn't wait for the shutter to click!! :)
Great sense of the night, and the clarity is superb. Did you ever find out what the mystery animal was?

@Richard_Irwin: I never found out. It's another clear evening here so maybe he'll come visit again and I can find out...if I dare!
Maybe it was E.T.... That mist isn't the animal's breath is it? Maybe it was a lot bigger than E.T...
